Ceremonies
In addition to the standard civil ceremony, any of the following rituals/symbolisms can be integrated within your ceremony upon your request:
Rituals/Symbolism Options |
Unity Candle |
Two separate tapered candles and one Unity candle are lit, symbolizing the uniting of two families and two lives into one. |
Roses |
The couple exchange two roses, symbolizing the giving and receiving of their love for each other throughout their entire married life. The Rose symbolism also conveys how to use the rose and its signification in difficult times in order to forgive each other. |
Rings: Circle of Love |
Rings are the symbol of an unbroken circle of love. The exchange of rings is a reminder of the promise of commitment between the couple. |
Memorial Candle |
The remembrance of departed family members through a special memorial candle lighting ceremony. |
Hand Binding |
The couple’s hands are symbolically "bound" together by a silk scarf or a rope of flowers to signify the commitment being made by the couple. |
Grains of Sand |
Different coloured sand grains are poured into a central glass vase by the couple, or by the couple and various individual members of their families, to symbolize the joining of the two families and two lives into one. |
Branding |
This ritual is a sign of the couple’s devotion today, tomorrow and forever. As the brand cannot be undone, so shall their promise to each other stand the test of time. The brand is placed on a piece of wood. |
Renewal of Vows |
The Renewal of Vows is a non-legal ceremony to renew marriage vows highlighting various anniversaries – 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 30 years or more. There are no licence or witness requirements for a Renewal of Vows ceremony. |
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly.
What is essential is invisible to the eye."
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
